IN CHARACTER

Character Name: Yoshiya "Joshua" Kiryu
Canon: The World Ends With You / Kingdom Hearts
Canon Point: Post Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance

In-Game Tattoo Placement: On his back, in the spot in-between where his angel wings appear when summoned.
Current Health/Status: Given his species, he's someone that exists somewhere between the living and the dead. In Kingdom Hearts, he was a resident of a world that, at the time, only existed within the realm of "dreams", so he'll likely assume that he has somehow slipped into a different dream world from his own.
Age: Looks like 16ish, actual age unknown due to his status as the non-human Composer of Shibuya, as the exact number has not been specified in canon.
Species: Angel/Composer of Shibuya??

History: Here is the wiki page for "The World Ends With You", the canon that Joshua originates from before his appearance in Kingdom Hearts. (And is implied through dialogue in Kingdom Hearts that the events of this series still took place before we see him in Kingdom Hearts) Here is a wiki page for his role in Kingdom Hearts, up to his current canon point.

CRAU History and Impact: N/A
Personality: Imagine, if you will, a character that at first glance appears to be a prissy teenager prone to snark, insults, and just downright trolling the people around him. He acts like he's smarter and better than you are, and has zero hesitation in making sure you know it too at all times. At the same time, he has a peculiar interest in things you wouldn't expect, or occasionally says strange ideas or goes off on philosophical tangents that might not have anything to do with the current situation at hand. Occasionally informative, but also really annoying at most times that people often express the desire to punch him in the face, which he finds amusing more than threatening.

Now add that the teenager in question is actually an omnipotent angel who has the power to wipe a city off the map, and very nearly does so as part of a bet in a game involving life or death. He acts friendly, but is absolutely capable of throwing others under the bus in order to get the result he wants, for what he feels serves a greater purpose. He's sick of the dull and apathetic attitude that humans have adapted, so wouldn't it be better to get rid of all that? It's tiring: not just watching over the existence of others, but even maintaining his own. He values his own life so little that he's willing to risk an entire city's livelihood to find an end that justifies his means.

So he lies and rigs games to try to prove his point rather than go out quietly, and only after he sees proof that humans are capable of changing for the better that he becomes willing to budge. And even then, only enough to leave the city alone and allow Neku and the others to be happy, despite their invitation for him to join their group of friends. Despite outer appearances, he's not someone he thinks should be forgiven, let alone even considering that someone like himself is capable of companionship, and that his friends and the city is worth protecting...

... Now take all of what I just said, and add "and then the Heartless attacked" at the end, because that is pretty much what happened just as Joshua was developing a whole feeling about other people. Now, those same people he previously considered as pawns in the Reaper's Game, along with the rest of Shibuya, are now gone. Joshua has gotten exactly what he originally wanted, right at the moment when he had stopped wanting that. As a result, he has become a being without purpose, surrounded by the remaining fragments of what he could save from Shibuya that he spirited away with him to Traverse Town.

It's not all bad, though. He has since come to care quite a lot for Neku, Shiki, Beat, and Rhyme in the time that they've been together, though there is guilt in that what's left of them in Traverse Town are vague memories of the people they originated from. Even so, he is protective of them, and is hopeful that one day Shibuya can be restored again, and that he'll be able to restore everyone back to the way they were before. Now, he's willing to do something for others, rather than stringing people along to do things that solely benefit himself. He can still be vague or teasing when it comes to his interactions with others, but also a little more truthful than he would have with some people before. Now he's seen what repercussions his actions could have and regrets it to some degree, so he's struggling with some amount of self-loathing that he tries to amend by helping Sora and Riku in their adventures when they visit him and the ghosts of his friends in Traverse Town.

Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses & Warping: As an angel, he can use telekinesis to float and move objects around, from something small like a cup to something as big as a car, which he often uses in combat to throw objects at enemies or even lift the enemy into the air to throw somewhere. He can also summon beams of light to crash down from the sky and strike a target, though that requires more energy to summon. Originally, he claims that it's his cellphone that can do these tricks to disguise his non-human nature, but it's actually his own power.

Because of his status as the Composer of Shibuya, he can see, hear, and speak with the dead, as he normally exists between the two planes. He's also gifted with omniscience, not just in knowing subjects you wouldn't expect, but in which he may know someone's name/certain things about them before they even tell him, but typically he keeps this sort of knowledge to himself and doesn't say anything or flaunt it unless it feels necessary when they ask why the fuck he knows so much. He also has two forms: His Composer Form is almost completely white and wispy looking like a ghost, but when out socializing with the living, he usually takes a more human form most are familiar with, appearing as a teenager by default as it's the one that he thinks most people will be less nervous around.

As revealed in Kingdom Hearts, he does in fact have wings: normally he has them hidden, but when needed, he can summon them to appear so that he can fly away from a situation or travel elsewhere. Otherwise in the game, he's been the rest of his energy in order to maintain the portal within Rhyme's dreams as well as keeping the fragments of his friends intact. But as such, he's familiar with strange dream logic and can manipulate the dream world to some degree (such as altering a city to include graffiti art on the walls), but... since Deerington is not a dream of his creation or of someone that he knows, I'm going to say that he can't do much of that anymore here and will stick to his own abilities that affect himself rather than his surroundings.

Are you comfortable with prominent elements of fourth-walling?: Yes
What themes of horror/psychological thrillers do you enjoy the most?: Have you seen anime like Paranoia Agent or Perfect Blue? Or games like SOMA, Silent Hill, Layers of Fear, etc. that have a theme about questioning one's reality or existence? Those stories tend to end up being my favorite when I play them. However, I also really like the occasional body horror and the stuff found in rpg horror games, such as Angels of Death, The Witch's House, Ib, etc. etc. I also really like dreams and nightmare theming as both Dream Drop Distance from Kingdom Hearts and, of course, this game I've apped into is situated around.
Is there anything in particular you absolutely need specific content warnings for?: Emetophobia, or any other particular descriptions involving bodily waste other than blood or tears.
Additional Information: I can't remember but are we able to regain outfits from home because at some point I want to do that with Joshua here if possible. (Seriously just look at this actual canon outfit you can have Joshua wear in game)
